Spend two days in the middle of the desert on the shores of the Drâa Valley, on a trip to Zagora, which is known for its golden sand books on camels in the desert as far as the eye can see. Discover the oasis of palm trees and taste the dates for which the Draa Valley is famous. It is recommended to visit Zagora in the spring or autumn, as you have a date with the watermelon and date harvest.
Zagora is located on the Ireg Chegaga route, where activities such as 4×4 rides and camel rides are organized to discover the splendor of the desert and the Berber communities of the Draa Valley, the region’s source of life.
It is recommended that you visit Zagora’s weekly market, which is held every Wednesday and has some of the region’s famed local jewelry and artisan goods. Also, there is a museum with relics reflecting the rich history, and civilization of the city and region of the Draa Valley.
The city of Zagora hosts festivals and artistic and cultural events, such as the nomadic festival, which recognizes the presence of adjacent tribes and learns about the nomadic Bedouins’ lives and traditions. In Zagora, there are hotels with outstanding service and palaces built in the Moroccan style with swimming pools and restaurants, as well as guest homes that stand out for their decoration and unusual mosaics.
